American Idol's New Low: the Tatiana Del Toro "Nude" Libel Begins
We can't pretend for a minute that Tatiana Del Toro is our favorite to take the top spot in this 2009 American Idol competition*, but she's still a human being, and as hard as Idol executives are working (Fremantle, 19-Entertainment) to undermine the very humanity of Puerto Ricans, this new revelation has simply gone too far… Now, it seems, there are naked photos of Puerto Rican finalist Tatiana Del Toro. Don't believe it, folks, you've got the propaganda all wrong.
This is nothing new. Any time you find a rising star with his or her fair share of detractors – or in this case, her unfair share – you're going to find rumors flying about her personal life, moral fortitude, and you'll magically find anything possible surfacing to knock her down.
Tatiana Nicole Del Toro may only be from Los Angeles, but she self-identifies as Puerto Rican, and that's good enough for us. It's her place of heritage, so if we're going to discount her accordingly, we have to throw out all the racist jokes these same detractors use against non-recent persons from any numbers of ethnic locations… and the racist detractors aren't ready to do that, so let's give credit where it's due.

Answer:
Yes she did.
First of all, these are not "naked pictures" by any means. These are skimpy, seductive pictures. Are you surprised that Tatiana is a seductive woman?
More importantly, did you already know she's a model? You should, it was disclosed in her first Idol appearance. Models routinely provide sample photos across a wide sampling of genres. To see her in a white, lace bustier is no more shocking than if we found pictures of her appearing in a formal gown… if we saw her in a formal gown, would we say she's secretly a super-rich elitist?
Models shoot a typical series of photos. The fact that swimsuit pictures haven't yet surfaced shouldn't be shocking, those may come up later. They also might not. When a model is working early in the profession, they make a variety of styles available for producers and photographers to choose from. You can't know when you're first starting out if you're going to be called on to pose in an ad for the latest fragrance… or become a pop star.
Despite her many detractors, we know she's got something special, and there's no denying it. We don't mean that she's a typical, insufferably brilliant reality show train wreck, but that she's got an "it" factor. Love her or hate her, much like Sarah Palin, you can't take your eyes off her.
And as we've said before, much of the annoying behavior you witness on television is nothing more than the goading of producers more interested in making a quick buck than actually finding a true star. It's not a new notion, you can read all about the way American Idol manipulates auditions to suit what they perceive as the viewers best likelihood of keeping ratings up.
We predict she'll survive on the show through the top ten to fifteen finalists. That means that she's not just among the best half of the finalists, but that she's in the top dozen singers from more than 100,000 aspiring stars and starlets.
If our prediction is accurate, that will put her in the top 1/100th of 1% of all American Idol singers for the 2009 season… and if we're wrong, and she's eliminated this week, it means she's "merely" in the top 4/100ths of 1% of all who tried out… but we know she'll outlive the first round.
And if we're wrong, and she's really done some nude photo shoots, then we'll give $1,000 advertising credit to the publishing agency. We're not just sure this is a joke, we're perfectly positive and willing to put our money where our mouths are.
