Humor: The Universal Language

In Puerto Rico, as elsewhere in the US, 2008 was a year when race and national identity were front and center on the national stage as Obama waged his historic campaign to become the first non-Anglo Saxon man to win the White House. It's no wonder then that even in the world of satire and humor, Obama remained at the center of it all (despite the fact that humorists everywhere lament the departure of the easy target that Dubya provided).

Perhaps that's why the winning story in the fourth annual HumorFeed satire news competition was entitled "Baristas claim Obama's coffee not black enough". This winning entry, by writer G. Xavier Robillard from All Day Coffee. The story suggests how the 'man of hope' aims to transform even our morning joe.

""My father's family comes from Africa," continued the Senator, "but I learned to drink coffee in Kansas. It's time to move past the latte politics," he announced to a crowd of screaming supporters. "And move to a coffee of hope."

It's great stuff. And so are the other nine stories ranked by HumorFeed's panel of reporters and humor writers, a uniquely credible group for evaluating what's funny on the web. Visit the full list of stories at HumorFeed to get the whole picture.
